It's that time of year again it's time to Winterize your RV
  1. Drain all water tanks: Start by draining all of the water tanks, including the freshwater tank, hot water heater, and waste tanks.
  2. Bypass the water heater: To prevent the antifreeze from getting into the water heater, you need to bypass it. This is usually done by turning off the water heater and closing the valve leading to it.
  3. Add antifreeze: Next, add antifreeze to the RV's water system. You can do this by connecting a hose to the antifreeze inlet and pumping antifreeze into the system. Make sure to use RV-specific antifreeze and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Run faucets: Turn on all the faucets, including the shower, until you see antifreeze coming out. Don't forget to run the toilet and any outdoor shower as well.
  5. Drain antifreeze: After running the antifreeze through the system, you'll need to drain it. Open all of the faucets and let the antifreeze flow out. You can collect it in a bucket and dispose of it properly.
  6. Add antifreeze to drains: To protect your RV's drains, pour a cup of antifreeze down each drain, including the shower, sink, and toilet.
  7. Add antifreeze to toilet bowl: Pour a cup of antifreeze into the toilet bowl to protect the seals and prevent the bowl from cracking.
  8. Remove batteries: If you're storing your RV for an extended period, it's a good idea to remove the batteries and store them separately in a warm, dry location.
  9. Cover RV: Finally, cover your RV with a breathable RV cover to protect it from the elements. This will help prevent moisture and mold from building up inside the RV.
Following these steps will help ensure that your RV is properly winterized and ready for storage.
