With over 20 years of experience with motor homes, I've seen it all. I want to extend a special thanks to RVWorldShowroom.com for giving me the opportunity to share this information with you. If you're buying a pre-owned RV, here are some things you should know:
  • For Class A's or Class C's, check the NADA guide before shopping.
  • Visit several RV dealers and ask questions to get a better understanding of what you're looking for.
  • Check the VIN number and previous owners with DMV.
  • Start your inspection from the roof and work your way down.
  • Ensure that the roof is in good condition with no cracks and that all roof vents are sealed.
  • Check all rubber window seals and look for any major body damage.
  • Inspect the tires and ensure they are evenly worn. Replace all tires every five years.
  • Check all batteries, both the coach and house batteries, to ensure they hold a charge.
  • Test all lights, water pumps, and wiper blades to ensure they are in working order.
  • Check the air/heat and house furnishings.
  • Confirm when the coach was last serviced.
  • Take the RV for a test drive to check the brakes and listen for any unusual sounds.
Now that you know what to look for, you're ready to buy your first RV. Happy camping!
